Hillary in free fall after FBI reopens email investigation
  • 7 years ago
WASHINGTON — The FBI has acquired a warrant to investigate emails found on a laptop used by Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, reopening the bureau’s investigation into Hillary’s use of a private email server.

Last Friday, FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to lawmakers informing them of the investigation, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Hundreds of thousands of emails were discovered in former congressman Anthony Weiner’s computer in an unrelated case looking into whether Abedin’s estranged husband violated federal laws while sexting with a 15-year-old.

While most of the emails belong to Weiner, authorities say hundreds, maybe thousands, belonged to Abedin.

The FBI has accelerated its timeline for combing through the emails amid growing public scrutiny, although officials are unsure if the review will be completed by election day.

Comey has come under heavy attack from all sides demanding more information.

The White House has stood by Comey, with Obama saying he doesn’t believe the FBI director is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of the election.
