370 renowned economists, including 8 winners of the Nobel Prize, have signed an impassioned letter to the American people, asking that they do not elect Donald Trump as the nation’s next president.

Their reasons are not only numerous, but also based in fact and expertise, something the writers point out cannot be said of many claims and promises made by the GOP candidate.
The letter notes that Trump, “…degrades trust in vital public institutions that collect and disseminate information about the economy, such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, by spreading disinformation about the integrity of their work.”
Also touched upon is the candidate’s tendency to use, “…immigration as a red herring to mislead voters about issues of economic importance…”
The writers further describe Trump as a promoter of, “...magical thinking and conspiracy theories over sober assessments of feasible economic policy options. Donald Trump is a dangerous, destructive choice for the country. He…promotes willful delusion over engagement with reality.”
The economists warn, “If elected, he poses a unique danger to the functioning of democratic and economic institutions, and to the prosperity of the country. For these reasons, we strongly recommend that you do not vote for Donald Trump.”
