Male birth control found effective in pregnancy prevention

An international study has found that male birth control shots are almost as effective as the pill for women. Of the 266 married men study participants, only 4 became fathers. The injections work by using hormones to drastically lower sperm count. Unfortunately, adverse side effects such as depression, mood swings and acne cut the study short. Additionally, the pharmaceutical companies aren’t too excited about this idea. “Their concern may be there’s a lack of profitability, maybe there is a question of gender bias,” “There’s a concern of regulatory hurdles. In addition, it’s not as easy to stop 1,500 sperm that are produced per second as opposed to one egg per month.”
