Ri Sol-ju, wife of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, hasn’t been seen in public for roughly 7 months, sparking a variety of rumors and theories as to why.

While a popular suggestion is that she’s been executed by her husband, there are a number of other possible explanations.

One is that she is pregnant, as she disappeared from the public eye while carrying their previous child, born in 2012.

Another suggests she has been placed under close and constant guard due to threats against the government in Pyongyang.

Family troubles are also a potential reason for Ri Sol-ju’s prolonged absence.

She could have had a falling out with her husband or his sister, who heads the nation’s propaganda and agitation division.
