http://www.motorbeam.com tests the acceleration of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno which is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The new premium hatchback from Maruti shares its engines with the Swift. The Baleno weighs almost 100 kgs less than the Swift, giving it a better power to weight ratio. The vehicle is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor of the K-Series line while the 1.3-litre Fiat sourced diesel mill is badged as DDiS 190.

The Maruti Baleno is also offered with an automatic gearbox which is a CVT unit. The petrol Baleno produces 85 PS and 115 Nm while the diesel model generates 75 PS and 190 Nm. This car is the most frugal in the segment, returning 21.4 km/l and 27.39 km/l for the petrol and diesel models respectively.
