For example, he swallowed the Prophet Yunus (pbuh); and sometimes, he wanders around in fish form and transforms into human form when he goes ashore. This is a characteristic of Khidr; and since the people living in ancient times knew this well and encountered frequently, they portrayed him in their cave paintings and reliefs.
He appears in the Christianity belief as well. Look, do you see that he is in the form of a fish. He is carrying a bucket, which represents the system of Mahdi. In other words, it represents, symbolizes how he will hold Hazrat Mahdi's (as) hand and help him. He is portrayed in this relief in the same way as well, if you pay attention, he is in the form of a fish. He is in fish form in these as well. And he always carries a bucket. In other words, this is a symbol indicating that he will always serve the system of Mahdi, he will always support Mahdi (as); it refers to the Age of Aquarius.
