Donald Trump says that if he were elected president, he would renegotiate America’s deal with Cuba because the one President Obama signed, according to him, is “very weak.”

The Republican nominee made these comments during an interview with reporter Jim DeFede of Miami’s CBS4 News in Florida.

When Trump was asked about his recent harder stance towards Cuba, he responded by saying, “The agreement Obama signed is a very weak agreement. We get nothing. The people of Cuba get nothing, and I would do whatever is necessary to get a good agreement. An agreement is fine. It has to be a strong, good agreement that’s good for the Cuban people.”

Trump then stated that he would wait to appoint a U.S. ambassador to the island nation until there is what he calls “a very powerful agreement.”

DeFede went on to press the businessman about two different stories where Trump allegedly sent associates to Cuba in the past to explore different business opportunities.

The nominee claimed no knowledge of the trips, saying, “Well, I can say this--Cuba very much wants to see us there, I have heard, I don’t know, I didn’t speak to anybody, but I can tell you that Cuba, everybody wants us to go...But I wouldn’t want to do anything in Cuba until we have a very powerful agreement.”
