Microsoft to raise prices over Brexit vote linked pound slump

Microsoft has said it will sharply increase the prices for some of its products in Britain.
The move following the value of the pound plunging.
Thousands of companies and government departments who rely on its services will have to pay more.
The price of Microsoft’s enterprise software will go up by 13 percent and its cloud services will increase by 22 percent from the start of next year
The pound’s 18 percent fall against the US dollar since the vote to leave the European Union has prompted computer makers – including Apple and Dell – to increase prices in the UK.

Best known for its Windows software, Microsoft also stores, manages and processes data for thousands of companies and public sector providers across a range of sectors.
It said it would not change the prices on consumer services and would also not change prices for existing orders under price protection deals during the term of that agreement.
“We periodically assess the impact of local pricing of our products and services to ensure there is reasonable alignment across the region and this change is an outcome of this assessment,” Microsoft said on its blog.
