On Tuesday, President Obama criticized Donald Trump's 'flattery' of Putin.

Trump has made a number of positive comments about Vladimir Putin and even said he finds the Russian president to be a better leader than President Obama.
During a Tuesday joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Obama addressed the problems inherent in GOP presidential candidate’s “continued flattery” of Russia’s leader.
Said Obama of Trump, “The degree to which he appears to model many of his policies and approaches to politics on Mr. Putin is unprecedented in American politics and is out of step with not just what Democrats think but is out of step with, up until the last few months, almost what every Republican thought.”
He continues, “We can’t go around talking about human rights or…freedom of the press or democracy…or nondiscrimination…and then extol the virtues of somebody who violates those principles.”
