The best time to surf the Turnagain Bore at Turnagain Arm in Alaska is during an equinox, and riding the wave against the stunning backdrop of snow-covered mountains can last for hours. However, a solid winter wetsuit is recommended, as water temperatures in this part of Alaska hover around 4 °C, or 39 degrees.
