According to The Courier-Mail, a number of workers at the outpost took unauthorized photos of female staffers and pulled images from customers phones that were in the store for repair.
The pictures were then allegedly circulated among company employees and given rankings up to a 10, notes the BBC.
Apple has confirmed that people were released from their jobs, but denies the allegation that the store patrons were affected.
In a statement, the company said, “Based on our investigation thus far, we have seen no evidence that customer data or photos were inappropriately transferred or that anyone was photographed by these former employees.”
Apple further assured that the situation is being investigated, notes The Guardian.
The Australian Privacy Commissioner also made a statement, noting, “This is an important reminder that all organisations that collect and manage personal information need to embed a culture of privacy and ensure employees understand their responsibilities."
