While Mateo in Medellin found it "coherent" to vote against the peace accord with the FARC in the October 2 referendum, in the mountain town of Toribio, Jimmy expected the "yes" to win definitively. In the end, with just 50.21 percent of the vote, the "no" held out, ruining the efforts of almost four years of negotiations and reflecting a profoundly divided country after more than a half century of armed conflict.
