Facebook announces a cheaper standalone Oculus headset is on the way

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg took to the stage today at the Oculus Connect developers conference and showed off a taste of the company’s mobile VR future. He also introduced a surprise hardware that's not a PC or mobile VR headset. It's a standalone device that looks completely wireless, like a VR version of Microsoft HoloLens. The hallmark feature of the new prototype standalone headset is positional tracking. This positional tracking technology allows the headset to understand where it is in physical space and adjust the onscreen content accordingly.
