Motorbike bomb explodes near Istanbul police station - official

A bomb attached to a motorbike exploded near a police station in southwest Istanbul on Thursday, wounding 10 people, the provincial governor said.
The blast ripped through the Yenibosna district, several kilometres from Istanbul Ataturk airport, Turkey’s largest.
Television footage showed several damaged vehicles, shattered glass and broken windows. Special police forces have been deployed to the scene.

Governor Vasip Sahin said the wounded were all civilians and investigations were ongoing.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the blast.

There have been a number of bomb attacks in Turkey in recent months, some blamed on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group and some on the self-styled Islamic State (ISIL).
The latest in Istanbul was in June, when 45 people were killed in a triple suicide bombing at Ataturk airport. That attack was blamed on ISIL.
