Dutch journalist killed in Libyan city of Sirte

A prominent Dutch photo journalist has been killed in Libya while covering clashes in the city of Sirte.
Jeroen Oerlemans was reportedly shot dead by an ISIL sniper on Sunday.
In 2012, he was kidnapped and wounded in Syria, but freed a week later. The 45-year-old’s death comes amid intense fighting in the Libyan coastal city.
Backed by US air strikes, forces aligned to the country’s UN backed government in Tripoli have been battling to recapture the ISIL bastion since May.
Along with the Dutch journalist, at least 10 fighters from the jihadist group and eight government troops were killed in Sirte on Sunday.
