Colombians reject landmark peace deal

Voters in Colombia have narrowly rejected a landmark peace agreement deal with leftist Farc rebels in a referendum which had been expected to support the deal.

Official results have the “No” camp polling 50.24% and “Yes” 49.7%

The shock result throws the country into uncertainty handing a major defeat to President Juan Manuel Santos.

Opponents of the pact claim it was too soft on the rebels by allowing them to re-enter society, form a political party and escape traditional jail sentences.
