Police In Kansas Remind Citizens Political Distress Does Not Warrant A 911 Call

On Monday in advance of the presidential debate, police in Lawrence, Kansas posted a message noting that political distress does not constitute a crisis needing their immediate attention.

It’s very important that 911 services do not get bogged down by calls that are not related to actual emergencies.
In the hours before the first presidential debate on Monday, police in Kansas posted a message on Twitter to that effect, noting that political distress does not constitute a crisis needing their immediate attention.
The tweet read, “REMINDER, We realize politics can make emotions run high, but being mad at a presidential candidate in a debate is NOT a reason to call 911.”
The Lawrence Police Department also warned against playing debate-related games that involve alcohol.
On that matter, the department stated, “Additionally, drinking games where you drink every time someone says 'yuge' leads to binge drinking, and we discourage that strongly.”
