A number of the candidates involved in this year’s race for the White House showed a great deal of passion, but voters appear to be decidedly less enthusiastic about the upcoming election.
A Pew Research Center survey conduced between August 16 and September 12 shows that, while many will be at ease if their choice for president wins, actual elation is rare.
Such sentiments were largely equal regarding both major party contenders.
68% of Hillary Clinton supporters and 61% of Trump backers identified their likely reaction to a win for their candidate as relief, compared to 25% and 29%, respectively, who chose excited.
Those numbers are actually rather positive compared to how people feel about the campaign at large.
57% percent of respondents are frustrated by the battle and 55% say it disgusts them.
Only 15% expressed optimism.
When broken down by candidate preference, the numbers stay much the same.
