Donald Trump recently announced he now accepts that President Obama was born in the United States, but there are many who remain unconvinced.
Among them is Joe Arpaio, the sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona.
In a Tuesday address to the Surprise Tea Party Patriots group, Arpaio said of the president and his birth certificate, “I don’t care where he’s from. We are looking at a forged document. Period.”
He added, “I know all the politicians say, ‘Sheriff, don’t talk about it.' But how can I back down when we started it? I’m not going to just forget it.”
Arpaio also told the group, “I’m not going to give up.”
The sheriff reportedly began the search for Obama’s birth document in 2011 at the request of the Surprise Tea Party Patriots and after Donald Trump expressed doubts about the leader’s national origin.
