In Japan, a Buddhist priest can be ordered on Amazon.com. 'Obosan-bin', or priest delivery, went live on Amazon's Japanese site last year in partnership with a local start-up. This network of freelancing priests is condemned by some Buddhist leaders. Backers of this venture say it is helping to preserve Buddhist traditions by making them accessible to the millions of people who have become estranged from the religion.
