Iran threatened to shoot down US Navy spy planes near the Persian Gulf

Iran threatened to shoot down two US Navy surveillance aircrafts flying close to Iranian territory near the Persian Gulf over the weekend.
During their flight, the Iranian military warned the aircrafts to change course or risk getting shot down.
The US military planes ignored the warning and continued flying in international airspace.
The jets flew close to Iran to test the Iranian reaction, which has been characterized as “unprofessional" by a U.S. official.
This incident between the US military and Iran is just the latest in a series of confrontations in region.
