Clashes broke out on Monday night (Sept 12) in Naples between police and protesters demonstrating against a visit by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

The rally was organised by several left-wing activists and teachers, opposing the government’s new school reforms.

The protest lasted two hours during which demonstrators tried to break through police cordons, throwing dustbins and setting off flares.
