Columnist Sparks Outrage After Criticizing News Anchor's Skinny Jeans

The Minneapolis Star Tribune has apologized for publishing an article that distracted from the serious issue at hand, the tragic death of a child, by criticizing the reporter’s pants.
Earlier this week, journalist Jana Shortal of KARE, an NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, reported on a very emotional story about the kidnapping and murder of an 11-year-old boy.
Not long after, an article written by a columnist named C.J. appeared in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The topic was Shortal’s jeans. C.J. didn’t like them.
The columnist wrote, “She looked great from the waist up…but the skinny jeans did not work.”
Subsequently, the public took to social media to express its outrage over the pettiness and irrelevance of the article’s content.
Shortal herself wrote on Facebook, “I left everything I had on that newsroom floor. And today. You took that away. You made it about my pants."
The Star Tribune has since apologized for publishing the piece.
