President Obama And Philippine Leader Meet Briefly

While Obama canceled his meeting with Phillipine President Rodrigo Duterte as he did not feel it would be "productive," the two leaders did speak briefly at a Wednesday event in Laos.

Earlier in the week, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte extended an expletive-laden message to President Obama regarding the parameters of their scheduled talk.
While Obama canceled that meeting as he did not feel it would be "productive," the two leaders did speak briefly at a Wednesday event in Laos, reports the Los Angeles Times.
According to a White House official, the exchange was limited to "pleasantries."
Duterte has expressed regret about calling the U.S. president a "son of a whore" and said he was, at the time, upset about possibly being pressed on issues involving his handling of drug trafficking.
