Louisiana Tech concluded play a season ago with a record of 9-4. They faced Arkansas St in the New Orleans Bowl and won 47-26. Head coach Skip Holz returns for his fourth year with the program. He has six starters on offense and only three to the defense. Senior quarterback Ryan Higgins was charged with a DUI and will not start. J’Mar Smith a freshman will be under center. The Louisiana Tech offense produced 483 yards and 37 points per game in 2015.

Arkansas finished play in 2015 with a mark of 8-5. They earned a bid into the Liberty Bowl where they defeated Kansas St 45-23. Bret Bielema returns for his fourth year with the school and will have five starters return on offense and nine to the defense. Austin Allen a junior will start at quarterback. He saw limited work in 2015 and threw only three passes. He has all three of his starting receiving corps back. The Razorbacks ran for 197 yards per game with 5 yards per carry average.
