Georgia Tech concluded a down 2015 season with a record of 3-9. Head coach Paul Johnson returns for his ninth year with the school. Returning are six starters on offense and five to the defense. Quarterback Justin Thomas returns for his senior season. Thomas completed just 41.7% of his throws a season ago for 1345 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight picks. In a triple option system it was just 3.4 yards from scrimmage on the ground for Thomas with six rushing touchdowns. The run defense has been abysmal the past two seasons.

Boston College finished at 3-9 in 2015. They failed to land a bowl berth in three of their past five seasons. Head coach Steve Addazio is back for his fourth year with the school. He will have eight starters return on offense and seven to the defense. Senior quarterback Patrick Towles is under center with many playmakers in the passing game returning. Towles is a transfer who spent four years at Kentucky. Last year Towles hit on 56.1% of is throws for 2148 yards with nine touchdowns and 14 picks. He was not much of a threat to run the football. BC was a stout defense in 2015 surrendering just 15.3 points per game. It was a shame the offense could only produce 17 points per contest.
