Drug manufacturer Mylan said Thursday it will offer discounts on a life-saving allergy shot following scathing criticism for asubstantial price increase for the treatment.
The company announced that coupons of up to $300 would be offered to "patients in health plans who face higher out-of-pocket costs" in regards to the EpiPen Auto-Injector treatment.
That amounts to about a50% price cut for those people without insurance or for patients with high deductible plans.Mylan also said it double the income level at which families are eligible for assistance in purchasing the medication to 400% of the federal poverty level."As a mother I can assure you that the last thing we could ever want is no one to have their EpiPen due to price," CEO Heather Bresch told CNBC.
