KARACHI: At least one person was killed and several others injured as protesters allegedly belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) stormed on Monday ARY News office in Karachi for not providing the party with ‘due media coverage’.
The protesters belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), SSP police Saqib Ismail said.
“MQM workers fired shots at the ARY News office, ransacked the premises and set fire to a police mobile,” he said.Rangers raid Nine Zero, detain MQM leaders
Meanwhile, MQM leaders Farooq Sattar and Khawaja Izharul Hasan were taken away by heavy contingents of Rangers on Monday night as they arrived at Karachi Press Club with some other members of the party to address a press conference. They were later released.
Other detained party leaders include Sajid Ahmed, Amir Khan and Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, among others.
Raids were continuing and heavy contingent of Rangers reached MQM headquarters Nine Zero. Literature, computers and other IT equipment was confiscated.
