Alligator Spotted Carrying Massive Burmese Python After Winning Battle

The Burmese python is considered an invasive species in Florida and a major headache for officials given its devastating impact on the local wildlife. Recently, authorities got some help from an unlikely source in reducing the snake's population.

A photo posted to Twitter by the South Florida Water Management District shows an alligator carrying the body of a Burmese python presumably after a battle between the two.
An accompanying note read, "Our staff spotted this alligator swimming away from a levee in western Miami-Dade Co. with lunch — a Burmese python."
While in this case, the snake ended up being the meal, the species is certainly not a weak opponent.
In the past, there have been reports of them trying to eat alligators.
In a 2011 photo released by the National Park Service, a python attempted to consume an alligator whole but in the end, both of them perished in the battle, notes WFOR.
