No quick return for displaced Shan families

Families cram into a Buddhist monastery in Lashio, northern Shan State. Fierce fighting between the Burmese Army and Shan rebels continues on its doorstep.

One hundred and twenty kilometres away, the Burmese Air Force is bombing the positions of the Shan State Army North in the town of Mongshu.

Around 100 people, including many small children are sheltering in the impromptu relief centre. As the war continues around them, there is no telling when they will be able to return home.
