Amazing footage has emerged from South Africa of a large crocodile pouncing on a young impala and killing it.

The video, filmed at Kruger National Park earlier this year, shows the giant reptile sneaking up on the impala while it takes a drink.

It leaps out of the shallow water and attacks the animal, bringing it down in seconds.

According to the filmer, after the kill, other large crocodiles came from another pool "to challenge for a portion of the spoils".
