New volcanic vent becomes active on Mount Etna

Amazing footage, filmed this week, of volcanic activity on the east flank of the famous Voragine crater on Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy.

The filmer later wrote online: "Since august 7, on the east flank of Voragine crater, new activity started by a pit crater located at 3,280 metres.

"During the afternoon and night of august 10 ... this vent [was] emitting a big quantity of gas and a temperature over 700C."

"All the summit area is unstable and these kind of signals are the most important after the last eruption occurred in May 2016," he continued.
