Rio Olympics: Ryan Murphy snags gold, sets record in 100-meter backstroke

Cal swimmer Ryan Murphy took home gold in the 100-meter backstroke Monday night and set a new Olympic record in the process. Murphy totaled a time of 51.97 in the event and will compete in the 200-meter backstroke on Wednesday and Thursday and will be part of the U.S. team defending its 2012 Olympic gold in the 4x100-meter medley relay starting Friday.
