Average weight of American men increased by 15 pounds over past two decades

With larger portion sizes and many foods higher in fat, it’s not surprising that the average weight of American men increased by 15 pounds over 20 years, according to a new study published today by the U.S. CDC.
CDC researchers found the average weight of U.S. men over the age of 20 increased to 195.7 pounds, based on data from 2011-2014.
However, the rate of weight gain is slowing down.
Since 2002, men in the U.S. increased their average weight by just five pounds.
Women and children are not immune either.
The average woman in 1960 weighed 140.2 pounds.
Today, the average woman is 168.5 pounds.
