Donald Trump’s behavior has, in the eyes of many, become increasingly erratic, heightening concerns he may suddenly drop out of the race.

Though the Republican presidential candidate has not voiced an intention to do so, GOP high-ups are exploring their options just in case, reports ABC News.

While the 168 members of RNC could name a replacement, the process is neither quick nor easy.

According to a legal expert for the party, Trump would need to voluntarily exit by September for such a plan to work.

Beyond that, it appears the options are sparse, if not nonexistent.

As for why Trump would just walk away, the possibilities are numerous.

He is, based on recent polls, behind Hillary Clinton by roughly 8 points, so, some suggest he would drop out rather than lose.

There’s also been increasing discussion regarding Trump’s mental state, albeit all based in conjecture.

Many have suggested his narcissistic personality is exactly the sort prone to extreme reactions to criticism, which, as the race nears, will no doubt be delivered in hefty doses.
