Primary Dangers of Skateboarding Include Fractures, Head Trauma, and Dislocation

Skateboarding can be a fun and challenging activity, but new research shows that it also comes with a significant risk of injury. Researchers who conducted the study on skateboarding injuries used data that spanned over two decades and found that more than 64,500 U.S. children and teens were treated in hospital emergency rooms each year, which is about 176 a day -- for skateboarding-related injuries. The study indicated that fractures and dislocations were among the most common injuries. Five deaths were also reported during the study period and all were due to motor vehicle collisions.
