A police officer in Ballwin, Missouri shot during a traffic stop remains in intensive care and is paralyzed from the neck down.

A police officer in Ballwin, Missouri shot during a traffic stop remains in intensive care and is paralyzed from the neck down, reports St. Louis Post‑Dispatch. 
On July 8, Officer Mike Flamion pulled over a car for speeding. 
He was walking back to his patrol car when the bullet entered his neck, notes KTVI. 
KMOV is reporting that on Monday, Police Chief Kevin Scott said Flamion is awake and able to recognize family and friends, but he will need care for the foreseeable future. 
Scott also noted the support from the community has been overwhelming, with many sending cards, and giving donations. 
Police have arrested 31-year-old Antonio Taylor, the man suspected of the shooting.
He is facing multiple charges, including assault on a police officer and possessing a firearm as a felon.
