Spain: Rajoy announces vote in attempt to end political stalemate

Spain’s caretaker prime minister Mariano Rajoy is attempting to break the political deadlock in the country and announced a vote to swear him into office for August, but the Socialists declared they will vote No.

Although Rajoy’s People’s Party won the most votes in the election on June 26, they fell short of a majority. If they fail to form a government a new poll is likely.
