TV astronomer investigates if sugar really makes children hyperactive

A remarkable video has emerged of TV astronomer Mark Thompson investigating the energy contained in a Jelly Baby.

In the footage, shot in the UK on Sunday, Thompson explains that a 1994 study proved that sugar does not make children hyperactive contrary to the common belief.

He, however, shows the energy contained in the five grams of sugar present in each sweet by putting one in a test tube containing liquid potassium chloride.

The potassium chloride oxydises the sugar in the sweet which releases its energy.
