Cape Verdeans save dying native language

Kriolu is widely spoken in Cape Verde, but Portuguese continues to be the country’s official language. Invented by African slaves that were shipped to the Americas 500 years ago, Kriolu was banned by the Portuguese colonisers and the Catholic Church.
