One Third of Americans Never Floss Their Teeth

A new study found that nearly one-third of Americans never floss their teeth. 37.3% percent reported less than daily flossing and 30.3% floss daily. The study was comprised of 9,000 adults over the age of 30. The study found that failure to floss was higher in men than in women and low-income participants were less likely to floss than higher income participants. People 75 and older were more frequent flossers than those 30 to 44. Researchers say that the study indicates that stronger patient education is still needed. Flossing is the most effective way to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
