Venezuelans Celebrate San Pedro Festival

Celebrated in the small Venezuelan town of Guatire, the Feast of Saint Peter holds a special meaning for Venezuelans. While the tradition stems from a story about a Black slave who prayed to the saint for him to save her daughter, her husband carried on the celebration by dressing up like her after she died. For centuries since then, men have continued the tradition which also celebrates Venezuelan heritage.
