Cinemark Seeks $700,000 In Legal Expenses From Victims Of Colorado Shooting

Cinemark would like the Colorado shooting victims who sued them to pay the roughly $700,000 in fees and expenses it amassed in fighting the lawsuit.
A jury recently determined that Cinemark, the company that owns the Aurora, Colorado theater where the 2012 mass shooting occurred, is not liable for the tragic incident, reports the Business Insider.
The company would now like the victims who sued them to pay the roughly $700,000 in fees and expenses it amassed in fighting the lawsuit.
According to CBS News, "...Colorado courts allow the winning side of a court case to recover legal fees."
Cinemark’s attorneys filed a "bill of costs" earlier this month, notes the Denver Post.
However, no money is officially due at this time, as a judge needs to weigh in on the matter before totals of any kind are decided.
Further, the plaintiffs involved in the original lawsuit are still considering an appeal.
The Denver Post notes that defendants who emerge victorious, as Cinemark has, sometimes agree to drop compensation demands if plaintiffs abandon the appeals process.
