An abandoned horse adopted by Jon and Tracey Stewart only weeks ago has passed away, reports The Wrap.
Prior to her being taken in by the Stewarts, the 20-or-so-year-old mare named Lily had been left at an auction, notes NJ.com.
She was emaciated and covered in paint, thought to be the result of being hit repeatedly with paintballs.
A former owner has denied that assertion, and according to her, Lily was used as a canvas for a children’s finger painting activity.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, the Daily Squeal, a page about the Stewarts’ farm, wrote, “Her bones were very frail. She stumbled and fell hard on her neck causing a break. When we knew there was nothing more we could do for her we covered her in kisses and kind words and said our good-byes. Our hearts are aching we had so many more fun plans for her.”
