Joe Biden Unveils Public Database For Cancer Patients

In an effort aimed at helping researchers and physicians create treatments specifically for individual cases of cancer, Vice President Joe Biden will unveil a public data base for cancer patients. Biden will announce the Genomic Data Commons which will be housed within the National Cancer Institute and starts with genomic and clinical data for 12,000 patients. The system is designed to increase sharing of information about the gene sequences of tumors and how patients with those tumors responded to specific treatments.
