TV astronomer Mark Thompson explains what noctilucent clouds are in a cool video.

In the footage, shot in the UK on Sunday, the astronomer explains that contrary to the popular belief, notilucent clouds are not due to climate change but to vapour condensing around tiny meteor particles.

He says notilucent clouds are usually observed in June and July just after sunset or before sunrise.
