Search efforts for a man who fell into Yellowstone’s hottest spring have thus far been unfruitful, and officials say the individual is presumed dead.
Yellowstone National Park draws millions of visitors every year, but despite the area’s reputation as a recreation spot, serious dangers to humans lurk within, notes FOX News.
CNN is reporting that on Tuesday, a 20-or-so-year-old male was traveling along one of the designated paths when he veered off course in the Norris Geyser Basin area.
After traveling a couple of hundred yards, he reportedly slipped into a hot spring that reaches higher temperatures than any other in the park, climbing upwards of 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Search efforts have thus far been unfruitful, and officials say the individual is presumed dead.
The identity of the man has not been announced, and the park is withholding further details about the situation until the investigation has advanced, according to the Great Falls Tribune.
