Train carrying five lakh litres water reaches drought-hit Latur

A special train carrying five lakh litres of water travelled 300 km to reach Latur on Tuesday morning . The parched region in Maharashtra is battling the worst drought ever. The water train with 10 wagons was dispatched by Indian railways and left from Miraj in western Maharashtra at around 11am on Monday. It reached Latur at 5am on Tuesday, taking 18 hours to traverse a distance of around 350 kilometres. The district administration acquired a huge well located near Latur railway station to store the water which will then be supplied to Latur town.
