Why losing California would be an ugly stain to the Clinton campaign

Let it be known: Hillary Clinton does not need to win the California primary.
All she needs is a portion of delegates -- 73 to be exact -- in order to hold a majority and clinch the Democratic presidential nomination.
However, main rival Bernie Sanders is still standing tough, taking three of the last five primary contests.
Losing an enormously diverse state like California would be an ugly stain in the lead-up to the party's convention on June 7.
Despite he significant lead over the Vermont Senator, Clinton has seen Sanders pick up 20 wins, compared to her 26.
According to the LA Times, the former Secretary of State was pegged to in California by around eight percentage points, making talk of a potential slip-up all the more deafening.
