NASA: Solar Superflares May Have Been 'Key to Life On Earth'

A recently published study by a team of NASA scientists argues that solar flares emitted by the young sun 4 billion years ago could have warmed up an otherwise icy planet Earth and enabled other conditions making it conducive to hosting life.

Solar storms could have equipped Earth with the proper conditions to support life, according to a recently published study by NASA scientists. 
As the paper’s principal author, Vladimir Airapetian, states in an agency news release, in the beginning, “Earth received only about 70 percent of the energy from the sun than it does today.”
